George A. Shimp II & Associates, Inc. offers a wide range of services. Currently we offer services ranging from lot surveying to GIS consulting and data collection. Please scroll down for more information.
Boundary "Mortgage" Survey: Surveys of lots or parcels showing all improvements and encroachments. We can also include elevation information on all surveys.
Coastal Control Set-Back Line Surveys: New developments along the coast require the project not extend past the coastal control set-back line. We can plot this line on our surveys or stake it in the field.
Commercial Surveys: Surveys of existing commercial projects, usually for sale or refinancing purposes. We also can meet ALTA survey standards if required.
Construction Layout: We will work with the contractors, engineers, and architects on a project to stake and grade buildings, parking, utilities, and anything else that needs to be staked.
Elevation Certificates/Flood Zone Determination: Certificates of elevation and of Flood Zone are required for FEMA insurance. We can provide you with these certificates.
Engineering/Topographic Surveys: Surveys of vacant land or existing sites for engineering purposes. These would include boundary information, all above ground improvements, visible utilities, and can include below ground utilities previously designated by others.
GIS Data Collection: We can meet any GIS data collection needs. We will utilize sub-meter GPS to collect the necessary points and attributes. Data can be delivered in any format and in any coordinate system.
GPS/Boundary Surveys: Many counties now require GPS ties to existing control monuments for land platting and new commercial development. We have the expertise and the equipment to meet any county's requirements. We utilize 4 geodetic quality receivers on all GPS projects to ensure accuracy and redundancy of our GPS networks.
GPS Coordinate Surveys: These surveys are performed when coordinate data (Latitude, Longitude and Elevation) is needed exclusively, without any mapping or land boundary information. Some examples would be ground control for aerial photography, location of section corners, and high accuracy control networks on large scale projects.
Hydrographic Surveys: Surveys of the underlying surface of water bodies.
Right-of-Way Surveys/Staking: We work with contractors and utility companies to survey and stake right-of-way lines and easements for installation of new utilities.
Sectionalized Lands: Surveys of sectionalized lands, and large acreage parcels, are based on a specific set of rules and procedures that must be followed to be performed properly. We use a combination of GPS and traditional surveying methods to locate relevant section corners and determine the boundary of the tract.
Sketch & Legal Descriptions: We can write original legal descriptions of subdivided parcels, new easements, consolidated lands, etc.
Subdivision Platting: From start to finish, we can meet all subdivision platting and development needs. Including:
-the original engineering surveys, -the creation and recording of the plat, -the lay-out of roads and utilities, -and individual home site development.
Subsurface Utility Surveys: George A. Shimp II and Associates, Inc. works closely with GeoMasters, Inc. to provide engineers with accurate maps of subsurface utilities for design purposes. Please visit GeoMasters for more information.
Tide Studies/Mean High Water Surveys: In most cases, the boundary of coastal properties is the "Mean High Water" line. This is the level the water reaches at the average high tide over a 19 year period. We can plot this line on our surveys or stake it in the field.
Vacant Lot Surveys: Typically, these surveys are used by developers or land owners to evaluate lots for building purposes. These surveys usually include tree location and spot elevation data.
