Sample GPS Coordinate Survey

This is an example of a pure GPS coordinate survey.  Here, the only objective is to determine high accuracy coordinates on specified points.  The primary advantage of GPS is that it allows a surveyor to measure distances and directions between points over very long distances in a very short time.  George A. Shimp II & Associates utilizes 4 Ashtech Locus GPS receivers on GPS projects.  This allows us to measure baselines up to 12 miles in as little as 1 hour.  This would have taken days by traditional surveying methods.

This is a sample of a project in which we tied two plat PRMs (Permanent Reference Monuments) and two NGS (National Geodetic Survey) control monuments.  This report is a detailed account of all the relative information.  It includes the coordinate positions of the unknown stations, information about the control monuments, datum definition, vector processing results, and network adjustment statistics.  Also, each survey is delivered with a signed and sealed survey report.
