Based in Palm Harbor, Florida, George A. Shimp II & Associates, Inc. has made a commitment to staying on the cutting edge of technology. In addition to our collection of traditional land surveying equipment, we currently utilize four "Robotic Total Stations", a Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) GPS System, and a set of four static GPS receivers. On select projects, these tools give us a competitive edge by decreasing crew size while increasing productivity. While many of our clients don't understand, or don't care about, the methods and equipment we use, most of them are impressed with the accuracy and quality of our final product.
However, owning the latest equipment and software does not guarantee results. Which is why we also have committed to finding and keeping the best staff available. We currently employ four state board certified registered land surveyors. Because we are a small corporation, this all but guarantees that a licensed land surveyor will be directly involved in almost every aspect of your project.
George A. Shimp II & Associates, Inc. has operated out of Northern Pinellas County for more than 30 years, however, we are willing to offer a proposal for work anywhere in the State of Florida. We have preformed surveys as far south as Lake Okeechobee and as far north as Pensacola. We have preformed hundreds of boundary and topographic surveys for McDonald's, Steak & Shake, and Applebee's through-out the state. We are currently pre-qualified to work for Verizon Communications in Pinellas, Pasco, Hillsborough, Polk, and Manatee Counties. In addition, we are pre-qualified for Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) work in all districts.
However, the vast majority of our work is preformed in Pinellas, Hillsborough, and Pasco Counties. Here, we have specialized in boundary surveying, subdivision platting, topographic surveying, sectionalized land surveying, and construction staking. Because of our long history of working in the same area, we have amassed nearly 3 decades of our own private records, and centuries of public records. Over the years, we have also acquired the private records of several retired surveyors. All our projects and records are well indexed and well documented, and simply put, we have historic surveys and maps which are not commonly available. While it was initially costly for us to acquire and maintain these records, our record keeping has paid for itself many times over in time saved.
